K-8 PE Classes - The MRA students are involved in circuit training and fitness assessments in physical education class. Circuit training is a fast, safe, and fun way to improve the five components of fitness: cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. Circuit training is helpful in developing and understanding the components of fitness, the location and function of important muscles and how to perform these exercises safely. An understanding of how these of many common exercises will be gained, as well as how to use a variety of fitness training equipment. The FitnessGram is the assessment tool that is used to assess physical fitness and physical activity levels at MRA. Each score is evaluated against the Healthy Fitness Zone standards. Using the Healthy Fitness Zone standards helps to minimize comparisons between students and emphasizes personal fitness for health rather than goals based solely on performance.
