The first through sixth grade students at MRA have been practicing the game of "Rock, Paper, Scissors" as a strategy to solve conflicts. This strategy works best to solve a conflict when two people want the same thing such as a spot in line, a piece of equipment, or determining who wins a game.

Please send your children to school with athletic shoes on their PE days. It is important for them to be able to participate in all of the activities and stay safe.

The Kindergarten through Second Graders have been participating in a unit called "Building a Foundation." This unit helps establish class environment, behavioral expectations, and organizational protocols. Many of the motor development concepts addressed are: body and special awareness, locomotor and non-locomotor skills, directionality, pathways, levels, and tempos. To enhance their social and personal development, children learn to share, cooperate, and take turns.

The third through eighth graders have been playing a variety of activities called "Cooperatives." These activities help students build relationships, enhance communication skills and provide opportunities to work together to solve challenges. Cooperation, encouragement, trust and teamwork are skills your students benefit from all year.

The seventh and eighth graders started their unit on health and wellness this week in health class. The students learned about classroom rules and identified with each other about commonalities and uniqueness between each other. They made individual quilt squares that represent their strengths and talents, and will be displaying them on the bulletin board in the hallway next to the Wild Woods Gym.
